The Light // Saint Lucia bundle
Many years ago, at a large Florida flea market, I was claimed by Saint Lucia—or maybe reminded of my ancestral devotion to her. At the time, I didn’t know who she was, but the antique painting haunted me in a way that made me know she had to come home with me. When I realized it was Saint Lucia of Syracuse, Sicilian like my maternal lineage, I knew she was now my primary patron saint.

I’ve shared her story over the years, and there’s too much to say in a single post, but like many women, she was given to a man in hopes of a better life, though she had already promised herself to a higher calling. When she refused to marry, the torture began. They tried to send her to a brothel, but she became immovable. They attempted to burn her, but the fire did not work. Did they gouge out her eyes, or did she? The final blow was a sword to her neck. Like, let the girl be!

For myself, she represents our own divine inner sight—holding on to the light in dark times, staying true to our calling. While she protects the physically blind, I believe her archetype also protects the spiritually blind or those having a hard time knowing their path forward, those seeking faith, hope. No wonder her fest day is near the winter solstice. You don’t have to be religious to get behind a Saint, what they hold is far larger than that.

She’s got some big last-third zodiac wheel energy: devotion to a higher knowledge, dedication, service, Christ energy, and self-sacrifice.

This year, she kicked my ass a bit—in a good way. She demanded her own altar for her big archetypal energy to come alive. She drove home that the aromatic house was a calling I couldn’t ignore and helped me stay in my own lane.
•
To honor her this year, I’ve completed some medicine that is ready to be in the world—an aromatic oil to brighten inner light, blended with an elecampane hydrosol that was harvested before Hellen, fermented through the storm, and distilled via waterfall. The bundle includes a candle, and my hope is that if you feel called to this, it serves you well as we move into the solstice and spend the next 3 months reflecting on our paths forward for the big zodiac year again in 2025.
What you will receive is one 2oz spray and a candle

It feels a little weird to release medicine in exchange for money on Saint Lucia’s Day, but it just had to be. When you are claimed, you are in service to that energy, person, or place. And, being Friday the 13th—a day of good fortune and love—maybe it’s appropriate after all!
